It was the end of the road for one of the bandits said to have been terrorising the residents of Satellite Town, a suburb of Lagos,  Tuesday, as the sentries posted at Nigerian Navy gate, Navy Town, gave chase and shot him to death.

The deceased was shot dead at about 6am after attacking some of the residents of Satellite town, along side his gang members.

Confirming the incident, the Command Information Officer, Western Naval Command, Lieutenant Commander, Jerry Omodara, said the sentries were alerted by the cries of alarm raised by their victims after they were robbed.

He said the armed men tried to escape on a motorcycle through the Navy Town Gate and attempts to stop them by the sentries proved abortive prompting the sentries to shoot.

Omodara said although one of the suspects died on the spot, the others managed to escape, adding that preliminary investigation showed that the bandits were among those that have been terrorising the residents.

He said, "When alerted, the police from Agboju recovered the body for further investigations. Accordingly, the Commander, NNS WEY, Commodore Emmanuel Yakubu, has warned criminals operating within the area to keep off, as the Navy is out to ensure security of lives and properties  in  the area."
