EXCLUSIVE: Pandemonium as Clash Claims Four in Lagos

By Chiemelie Ezeobi

Pandemonium erupted yesterday  at a liquor joint in Alaba area of Lagos State when a scuffle snowballed into a fight, resulting to the death of four persons. Although details were yet sketchy as at press time, it was however gathered that the deceased persons had paid a visit to the joint which was within the premises of the  Alaba International Market, Ojo Local Government Area of the state.

According to eyewitness account, the deceased persons had soaked themselves in the local gin-mixture popularly called 'paraga' to chase out the cold which accompanied the rains yesterday afternoon.

Having allegedly drunk themselves to stupor, an argument ensued amongst them and in their inebriated state, some of them brought out locally made pistols and exchanged fire.

Although the sound of the shots drew the attention of policemen stationed in the area, it was rather too late as four persons died in a pool of their own blood.

The police then set about restoring normalcy in the area, although no arrest was made. Attempts to confirm from the state PRO, Ngozi Braide, proved abortive.
