Naval operatives attached to Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, Apapa, of the Western Naval Command (WNC), yesterday arrested six persons for allegedly trying to steal petroleum products from an impounded oil vessel in Lagos.
The suspects identified as Hassan Eletu, Charles Enyenbo, Aabayomi Owolabi, Ogunsanya Adekanmi, Chukwuka Emenike and Steven Okafor were arrested at the Elegbeta Channel area of Apapa.
While handing the suspects over to the police for further investigations and prosecution, the Commander NNS Beecroft, Commodore Chris Ezekobe, said the two vessels involved in the crime would remain in the custody of the navy until investigations are concluded by the police.
