EXCLUSIVE: Police arrest 40 Nigerians for document fraud

The Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Milverton, Ikoyi,  under the command of Commissioner of Police Tunde Ogunsakin, has arrested 40 Nigerians for forging statement of accounts and faking of travelling documents.
The  SFU said the arrests were made possible by a written request received from the Consulate General of Italy in Lagos to carry out all needed investigations on the 40 suspects who submitted fake and forged documents to Italian Embassy in a bid to travel out of the country.

The CP said such forgeries have become rampant for unscrupulous Nigerians who desire to travel out of the country through dubious means.

He said in the course of their attempt to manipulate records and information, many reputable organisations, financial institutions and government parastatals’ records are falsified and tampered with.
He said, "These network of crooks who specialise in travel document racketeering have been shattered and will soon face the wrath of the law in the Court.

"I advise Nigerians to avoid unscrupulous elements and follow due process when processing their travelling documents to avoid facing the wrath of the law."
