EXCLUSIVE: Court Docks Cobbler for DefilingTwins in Lagos

The Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates' Court yesterday docked one Yusuf Ojuolape, a 23-year-old cobbler,  for defiling six-year-old twins at the Okearin area of Lagos Island.
The suspect who appeared before the court, was charged with the defilement of the six-year-old twins in his residence, which contravenes section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

While briefing the court, the prosecutor, Inspector Richard Odigie told the court that the crime was committed between January 18 and Jan 22, adding that the accused and the mother of the victims live in the same house.

He said, "The victims accused the defendant and one other person still at large, of inserting their fingers into their private part  on six previous occasions without the knowledge of the mother.

"The mother of the victim was bathing the victims and noticed a swollen part on their body and when she asked them, they said the accused assaulted them.

"The victim's mother reported the case at Adeniji Adele police station and the defendant was arrested. The other suspect is still at large."

The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Chief Magistrate, Miss S.O Solebo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She charged the prosecutor and the mother of the victims to go for proper medical checkup at the General hospital, since the medical report presented in court was not clear.

She adjourned the case till March 3 for mention.
