Two Persons were killed today as angry youths protested the killing of boy by
local vigilance group at the Ikorodu
area of Lagos State .
Also five houses and two
vehicles , belonging to members of the vigilante group , popularly known
as " Won Ya Bo Boys" were
destroyed around Igbogbo area of the community
Many residents of the
community accused members of the vigilante team of high handedness and always
taking laws into their hands , in their handling of security issues in Ikorodu.
It was gathered that
trouble started on Monday afternoon , when members of " Won Ya Bo
"arrested a member of the community , identified as Habeeb Babalawo and accused him of being an armed robber.
The group was said to
have killed the arrested suspect without handing him over to the police for
proper investigations and trial ,prompting many residents , mostly youths to
mobilise against the killing
The irate youths
clashed with members of the vigilante group and a free - for - all ensued with
sporadic shooting from both groups ,
forcing many residents and pedestrian to scamper for safety.
