Police EXCLUSIVE: Police Foil Plot to Kidnap Young Shall Grow Boss, Kill Two Suspects

The Area E Command of the Lagos State Police Command, Monday, engaged in a gun duel with an armed kidnapped gang who attempted to kidnap the Chairman, Young Shall Grow Motors at the FESTAC Town area of the state.

Led by the Area Commander, Area E Command, Dan Okoro, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), the police operatives had engaged the gang in a gun duel and  felled two of the suspects while the other members of the gang fled to safety.

The armed gang numbering about 10 were said to have intercepted the convoy of the victim, Chief Vincent Obianodo, at 22 Road, FESTAC Town, and attempted to kidnap him at gunpoint.

It was gathered that the victim who was on his way back from work was shot in the hand while his driver, one Ngozi Chijioke, was killed on the spot from the hails of bullet released by the armed gang.

Confirming the incident yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said the victim was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

She could not however confirm if the suspects were suspected kidnappers, hired assassins or armed robbers as claimed, adding that investigations would reveal what the attack was.

She said, "The owner of the Young Shall Grow Motors was coming back from work on Monday night when a vehicle intercepted  his vehicle and the occupants opened fire on him at 22 Road, FESTAC Town.

"The driver was killed on the spot while the chairman was shot on his hand. While the operation was going on, a police patrol van from Area E Command came to the scene and engaged the armed men in a shoot out.

"After the gun duel, two of their men were shot and others escaped with serious bullet wounds. Their vehicle was ridden with bullet holes too.

"We are investigating the incident and we are on the trail of those at large. We also appeal to members of the public to report to the police anyone found with bullet wounds seeking treatment."
