Finally, Lagos CP Visits Parents of Slain Nine Year Old Boy


Four days after some trigger-happy policemen shot and killed nine-year old Timilehin Ebun at the Mile 12 area of Lagos, the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, Monday visited and commiserated with the bereaved parents of the deceased boy

Ebun was killed by a trigger-happy police sergeant, Alowonle Razaq last Thursday at Kosofe area of Lagos. Represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in-charge of 'operations', Mr. Tunde Sobulo, the CP paid a visit to the house of the bereaved family located at House No.9, Oyebola Street, Off Safuratu Benson, Oke-Oriya, Ikorodu.



Sobulo was accompanied by the Area Commander of Area 'H', Mr. Patrick Longe, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP); Ketu Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Umar Justin; DPO, Owutu Station, SP Abayomi Oni, and the state Police Command spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Braide.

Timilehin, his elder sister; Damilola, father; Olusegun and mother; Funke were returning home from Murtala Mohammed Airport (MMA), Ikeja, Lagos, where they had gone to pick their first son; Jide, who came in from his school in Canada on vacation.

They were in their Nissan Pathfinder Jeep, marked HD 844 EKY, Lagos, when Timilehin, a pupil of Royal Scholars International School, Oke-Oriya, Ikorodu, was shot dead after the bullet hit him on his right eye through the windscreen of the vehicle.

Timilehin was confirmed dead at a nearest hospital where his father rushed him to for treatment.

The erring four members of the team attached to Ketu Divisional Police Station, Ketu, Inspector Olaleye Sunday, Inspector Sule Dauda, the trigger-happy sergeant, Alowonle Razaq, a constable and the driver of the Faragon Volkswagen bus; Babatunde Omoniyi, whom the police team wanted to arrest for climbing the median at Mile 12 market expressway, have since been arrested.

The suspects are currently at the 'X' Squad unit of the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja.
