The Director-General of the National Task Force on the combat of illegal importation and smuggling of arms and ammunitions and light weapons, Chief Emmanuel Okereke has blamed the protracted security crisis in the country on the unpatriotic activities of some elements of the security forces.

Okereke, who addressed journalists in Abuja Wednesday, along with members of his task force alleged that their efforts at tracking down those engaged in illegal importation of arms and ammunitions into country were being frustrated by the uncooperative attitude of some officers of the Nigeran Police and the Customs Service.
Against the background of rising insecurity in the land, Okereke who is also the President of Importers Association of Nigeria whose members constitute the bulk of importers in the country, said the task force is the product of a Public-Private-Partnership between the importers and the Federal Government to help check  in-flow of arms into the country.
