Independent Body to Investigate Police/NSCDC Clash

The fear of a biased investigation into Wednesday's clash between police operatives attached to Ikorodu Division of the Lagos State Police Command and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, has made the federal government set up an independent body.

Although the independent body was not confirmed by both opposing services as at press time, it was gathered that the State Security Service (SSS), have been given directives to carry out investigations into the actual cause of the clash.

Nigerians have become so adept at graveyard orations that whenever any important personality dies, everybody would be scrambling to find the right adjectives with which to express their condolences. And it doesn’t matter that they may have spent their lifetime attacking the deceased or what such a person stood for. But ever so often, their hypocrisy is obscured by its unintended truthfulness, especially in instances where the object of the post-humous affectation happens to merit the expressed lofty words. That, I suppose is the case with Prof. Chinua Achebe who passed away in the United States exactly a week ago today.

The former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, has been taken back to hospital suffering from a lung infection. President Jacob Zuma confirmed that the 94-year-old was readmitted just before midnight on Wednesday and said: "We appeal to the people of South Africa and the world to pray for our beloved Madiba and his family and to keep them in their thoughts.
"We have full confidence in the medical team and know that they will do everything possible to ensure recovery.Mandela's spokesman Mac Maharaj told Sky News that the former president was "conscious".

Jonathan Summons Police, NSCDC over Lagos Clash

Authorities of the Nigeria Police Force and that of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were Thursday summoned by President Goodluck Jonathan to explain the clash between them,  which reportedly left two officials of the latter organization dead in Lagos.
Led by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Department 'A'. (Finance and Administration),  Suleiman Fakai the police delegation comprised of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko; Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Anti-Vandalism, Friday Ibadin; and the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba. Prior to  Thursday's meeting the President had met seperately with the leadership of the NSCDC on Wednesday evening

After an entertainment website posted a story regarding why Jesse Jagz left Choc City,  information which made several serious allegations against the record label, Chocolate City had to say something.
In one allegation, the website said Choc City had two so-called “strong claims” against Jesse Jagz, one of which stated that Jesse Jags owed the label some un-paid debt and the other which claimed the label leaked that the Artiste was addicted to Marijuana.

Still on the matter of the boko haram suspects that were arrested last Thursday at the Ijora area of lagos, my sources told me that the armourer who was nabbed in the joint raid became a father hours before he was arrested.
It was gathered that the wife went into labour about five hours before the security personnel raided the house and picked her husband in connection with a plot to bomb 16 landmarks in the state simultaneously.
