Missing Children Found Dead 35 days Later

Precisely 35days after they were declared missing by their parents, the corpses of the duo of Toheeb Adedokun and Tajudeen Falilu, were yesterday discovered inside a jeep parked few meters from their residence at Tanke Street, Ikosi area of Ketu in Lagos. 

Adedokun and Falilu had been reported missing by their respective parents on January 29 and were declared missing by the police who tilted towards treating the disappearance as a kidnap case.

Army Investigates 60 Officers over Examination Leakage

The Nigerian Army has commenced investigation on over 60 of its officer in connection with leakage of the lieutenants to captains promotion examination. The 60 indicted officers out of the 300 that took the examination are to have been paced on close surveillance and are facing a  military board of inquiry by a detachment of the military police at the 1 division in Kaduna.
This is just as reports said the chief culprit simply identified as  Lieutenant Taofik in the examination leakage was arrested in Akwa Ibom State. Sources said although the rules had banned cell phones into the examination hall, the said lieutenant had allegedly smuggled one in fully loaded with answers to the questions.

It was the end of the road for one of the bandits said to have been terrorising the residents of Satellite Town, a suburb of Lagos,  Tuesday, as the sentries posted at Nigerian Navy gate, Navy Town, gave chase and shot him to death.

The deceased was shot dead at about 6am after attacking some of the residents of Satellite town, along side his gang members.

A military parade is being held to carry the remains of President Hugo Chavez through the streets of the Venezuelan capital Caracas. The country's foreign minister, Elias Jose Jaua Milano, declared seven days of mourning for the controversial socialist leader, who died at the age of 58 after losing his battle with cancer.
His coffin left Caracas' military hospital earlier for his body to be escorted through the city, reports Sky News. It will then lie in state at a military academy until a public funeral on Friday. Tens of thousands of Venezuelans filled the streets with many crying, hugging each other, or shouting slogans of support.

Damoche: Police Arrest Suspect with Deceased's Phone

The intricacies surrounding the death of late Damilola Damoche, a 400-level Banking and Finance student of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, is gradually being unraveled as the Lagos State Police Command, yesterday arrested a suspect who had the deceased's mobile phone.
His arrest was necessitated after 34 suspects out of the70 that were initially arrested made confessional statements during interrogation which aided the investigation, thereby linking the phone suspect to the crime.

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday joined scores of world leaders in mourning the passing of his Venezuelan counterpart, Hugo Chavez, who died after a long battle with cancer. The president, on behalf of himself, the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria, extended his sincere commiserations to the government and people of Venezuela.

Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, has died in hospital at the age of 58 after developing a severe respiratory infection during his battle with cancer, Vice-President Nicolas Maduro announced Tuesday night.
A government spokesman had earlier said that the far-left leader, who has held control of the country for 19 years, was in a 'very delicate' condition in hospital. Details of Chavez's health have been cloaked in mystery since he was first diagnosed with the disease in June 2011.

Witnesses: How Kwara Police Commissioner Was Killed

The two survivors in the fatal attack on Kwara Police Commissioner, Mr Chinwike Asadu, have painted graphic details of how he was killed during a visit to his private house in Enugu, last Saturday. The late CP’s orderly, Aloha Olaniyi, and another policeman from the Abakpa Police Division initially taken to be his driver, Oliver Omeh, who were injured in the attack, said the gunmen, numbering about four, attacked them and in the process killed the CP.

The Enugu State Police Command, which is handling investigation into the incident, has arrested some suspects in connection with the killing. However, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Tonye Ebitibituwa, who said his command was yet to unravel the real motive behind the killing of his Kwara State colleague, added that the police would reveal neither the number of those arrested nor their identities in order not to jeopardise the ongoing investigation.
