EXCLUSIVE: Bamigbetan: SSS on the Trail of Kidnappers

Following Monday's kidnap of the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairman, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, it was yesterday gathered that the State Security Service (SSS) is on the trail of the kidnappers. Sources with the SSS who did not want their names in print said the service is already at the trail of the kidnappers, adding that if all things work accordingly, the victim would be soon returned to the warm embrace of his family.

He said, "We are all careful not to release anything will jeopardise investigations at this point but just know that we are in their trail and would soon round them up. We are also working in conjunction with the police to unravel this case."

The Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairman, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, after a week-long silence from one of the social media tools; the Facebook, the chairman had hours before his kidnap updated his page, apologising to his numerous followers for keeping them in the dark concerning the activities of the council.
Meanwhile, the update on the Bamigbetan's Facebook page read' "Apologies to my friends and subscribers for the silence on this page in the last one week. Sometimes, you retreat to review the performance of your communications strategy and re- focus.

EXCLUSIVE: Gunmen Allegedly Kidnap Foreign Student in Lagos

The rising case of kidnapping in Lagos was again brought to public glare yesterday when a foreign student of the American International School, Lekki, was allegedly abducted by gunmen.

This is coming at the heels of the abduction of a Lebanese and a Briton three weeks ago and this week's kidnap of one Nnenna Edu and the Chairman, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Kehinde Bamigbetan.  
The victim, whose identity could not immediately be ascertained as at press time said to be an eleventh grade student of the American International School, was kidnapped on his way to school in the morning.

EXCLUSIVE: Police Quell Protesting Butchers in Lagos

Pandemonium erupted this morning at the Abattoir, Agege area of Lagos, when some dissatisfied butchers came out in their numbers to register their grouse at the new scheme by the state government. 
Carrying different placards, the butchers expressed their dissatisfaction with the new Eko meat selling van  scheme which they claimed was not in their interest.
Confirming the incident, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Mr. Damasus Ozoani, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the police were able to quell the protest and restore peace.

Leadership Reporters Charged with Forgery

Leadership Newspaper and two members of its editorial staff, Mr. Tony Amokeodo and Chibuzor Ukaibe, were Tuesday charged before a Federal High Court in Abuja with forgery. The media outfit and the two journalists were alleged to have conspired with another reporter, Taiwo Omilani, said to be at large, to forge a document titled, 'Bromide of The Presidential Directive'.

In a 10-count charge, Amokeodo and Ukaibe, who are news editor and political reporter respectively, were accused along with their media organisation of publishing the document in the April 3, 2013 edition of the newspaper, knowing it to be forged and false with the intent that it might in any way be used or acted upon as genuine and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 467 of the Criminal Code Act Cap C 38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
