The All Progressives Congress (APC) has chosen Senator Chris Ngige to fly its flag at the November 16 governorship election in Anambra. The Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, who disclosed the successful break of the deadlock in the choice of the APC governorship candidate in Anambra, said the south east caucus of the party has resolved that Ngige will be the APC candidate and Okonkwo will led his campaign. Okorocha explained that choice of Ngige was reached through a concensus, "adding that "those who thought we shall not succeed today we have disappointed them".

President Goodluck Jonathan Tuesday directed the federal government negotiating teams to take all the necessary steps to ensure the quick resolution of the industrial dispute declared by university teachers.
The president gave the directive when members of the two committees set up by the federal government to negotiate with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) briefed him on the progress so far made in ending the lingering strike by the union.

A renewed clash at the Ikorodu area of Lagos State today claimed one life and left several others with varying degree of injuries, as protesters took to the street. The clash which started on Monday snowballed into mayhem when some aggrieved persons took to the streets to register their grouse against the death of a commercial motorcyclist who was shot by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

The policeman who was simply identified simply as Haruna, in company of two of his colleagues, Ayodele and Ismaila, had on Monday stormed the area to arrest defaulters of the state government's ban, which restricts Okada riders from plying about 475 roads in the state.

EXCLUSIVE: Immigration Boss Warns Personnel Against Corruption, Indiscipline

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) yesterday warned its personnel to shun sharp practices and indiscipline, stressing that those found culpable would be summarily dismissed from the service.

The Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) in charge of Zone A including Lagos and Ogun States, Mr. Joseph Olaitan, made this disclosure during an on-the-spot assessment visit to the NIS passport office, in Alausa, Lagos.
