Tukur: Why Alamieyeseigha, Others Deserve State Pardon

As the ripples of the state pardon granted the former governor of Baleya state, Diepreye Solomon Peters Alamieyesigha and others continue, the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur Sunday called for understanding by Nigerians on the Amnesty Granted by President Goodluck Jonathan to former ex- convicts stating that the President took the action in good faith.

The National Council of States presided over by President Jonathan had last week granted state pardon to former governor of Bayelsa state, Dieprieye Alamieyeseigha, former Bank Executive, Shettima Bulama, former Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Oladipo Diya; former Minister of Works, late Maj. Gen. Abdulkareem Adisa; ex-Major Bello Magaji and Alhaji Mohammed Lima Biyu, a step which continued to generate controversy and condemnation from across the globe.
