A dismissed police officer, Marshal Oshigbemi, alongside two others who are currently at large, impersonated detectives from SCID Panti and stormed a brothel at Ilembe.
The 65-years-old father of ten, had gone into the brothel with his cohorts and arrested some sex workers on duty as well as the manager, charging them human trafficking.
It was gathered that he threatened to ensure they all ended up in jail if they did not cooperate. Having ensured their cooperation, he allegedly raided their till and collected the sum of N4,500. The Ukwani indigene of Delta State, who was dismissed in 2011 for misconduct was arrested when the brothel called in policemen from Ilembe police division.
Their suspicion was aroused when they came outside with the fake policemen and didn't see the patrol van. It was gathered that the barman had asked them and they claimed the driver went to buy fuel at a petrol station.
The barmaid simply identified as Shehu, said he had to call in the police when they waited for the purported van for a long time and it didn't show forth.
When the policemen from Ilembe responded to the call, Oshigbemi was arrested while his accomplices escaped. Although he didn't deny the allegations, the dismissed officer said his action was part of his revenge strategy for having been dismissed wrongly. The police said the suspect would soon be charged to court.
