EXCLUSIVE: A Year Old Baby Dies as Another Building Collapse in Lagos

The Collapsed Building
Tragedy occurred yesterday at Mushin area of Lagos, when a three-storey building collapsed at Challenge Bus Stop, killing a year old baby and leaving several others with varying degrees of injuries.

This is coming at the heels of yet another building collapse at the Agbado area of the state, reinforcing the recent discovery of the Lagos State Government, which alarmingly revealed that there are over 600 distressed buildings in the state in the last one year.

It was gathered that the trapped victims have since been rescued and taken to Mushin Hospital for treatment and rescue operations closed up after it was ensured no one was still trapped underneath the rubbles.

Confirming the incident,  the Spokesperson, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South-west, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, however debunked claims that several lives were lost.

He said, "A three-storey building in Mushin collapsed and killed a 12months old baby but the several others that were injured from the impact of the blast have since been taken to the hospital.

"As at the last headcount by the occupants of the building, we can safely say that no one is still trapped in the rubbles after the evacuation and rescue process was undertaken."
