Mob Set Two Ablaze For Alleged Phone Theft in Lagos

Two yet-to-be identified persons were on Wednesday at about 5.30pm set 
ablaze by an angry mob for allegedly stealing a purse containing two handsets 
and other valuables at the Alaba-Rago area of Lagos. The incident which 
occurred during rush hour was said to have caused a heavy vehicular traffic 
along the Mile2-Badagry Expressway axis, spilling over to the Volks-
Okokomaiko environs.

According to eyewitness account, one of the deceased suspects had marked, 

then moved in on their victim and snatched her purse which contained her phones 
and other valuables before fleeing.

Like a well thought-out operation, he was said to have quickly thrown the purse 

and its contents to his partner who was standing and monitoring close by.

Having succeeded in their plan, the two suspects were said to have mingled with 

customers in the Alaba market in order to loose the trail of pursuers before sharing
 the proceeds of their theft.

However, luck was not in their favour as their pursuers still picked them out from 

among the massive crowd in the crowd.

It was gathered that they were apprehended, stripped naked and beaten thoroughly 

before the mob set them ablaze using car tyres but not before the purse and its contents 
were returned to the owner.

Throughout the entire period the jungle justice was being exerted, it was gathered

 that no security agency showed face, thereby encouraging the mob to burn the
 suspects beyond recognition.
