It was a typical insider job as valid and classified information was divulged to facilitate the kidnap of a Chinese businessman and another man whose friend plotted his kidnap in Lagos.  Two different parties who were close to their victims arranged their abduction and collected huge sums of money as ransom running into millions of naira.

While two of the suspects identified as Aduloju Taiwo, 32, and Ufot Akayiene had arranged and executed the kidnap of their boss, a Chinese staff of ZTE Nigeria Limited, Kuang Vingjun, another member of the gang, Jimoh Olalere, arranged the kidnap of his (Vingjun’s) friend, Ifeanyi Kingsley.
The other suspects who were identified as Rotimi Shegelu, Michael Sunday, Chigozie Ideh, Adeyinka Jagbojagbo, Kabiru Jagbojagbo, Adeshina Mutiu and Ope Dada had received the sum of N8.5 million and N1 million from Vingjun and Ifeanyi respectively as ransom before they were released.
The mastermind, Taiwo, who also works as a driver for the company regaled the investigators on how they planned and executed the kidnap of the Chinese man, adding that their act was done in vengeance for the way one of their colleagues was unlawfully dismissed without pay.
