Tragedy once again struck in the home of the late National Security Adviser (NSA) to the President, General Andrew Owoye Azazi, as his brother, Mr. Felix Azazi, has died from drowning, following a boat mishap, along the waterways of Ekeremor in Bayelsa West senatorial district of Beyelsa State.

The accident, which claimed his life occured on August 10, just as his corpse was recovered Monday, after frantic efforts by local divers and community youths.

It was gathered that the corpse was recovered along with that of an unidentified person, after two days of frantic search by local divers and community youths, at a place called ‘Beautiful Gate’ in Torugbene in neighbouring Delta State.
The corpses, it was learnt, had been deposited to an undisclosed hospital in Ughelli, Delta State.
The deceased, who is an indigene of Peretoru in Ekeremor local government area of the state, and a yet-to-be identified man, said to be of Urhobo extraction, were drowned, when the boat in which they were travelling capsized due to the sea wave, while trying to overtake another boat.
They were said to be travelling to Ojobo in Delta State for a week keep, when their boat capsized at about 7.30 p.m.
The accident, according to a source, was caused by poor visibility. The deceased, an asthmatic patient and the boat driver were said to have bought touch light at Tuomo waterside before embarking on the ill-fated trip.
“The news of the tragic boat mishap and the death of two occupants is still a surprise to us. The late Azazi had no bruise on his body and his inhaler was in pocket suggesting he may have had seizure when the boat capsized,” the source said.
