The use of old boats in carrying passengers to destinations has been placed on ban in Niger State. The ban was due to the mishap involving two boats in which more than 18 lives were lost at Kokoli village, Agwarra area of Niger state.
The spokesman for the state government, Mr Danladi Ndaebo, explained that the action was intended to ensure that old and rickety boats do not continue to  waste valuable lives in the riverine areas of the state.
