EXCLUSIVE: Fun Seeker Drowns in Bar Beach



A yet to be identified youngman yesterday night drowned at the Bar Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos,after he waded deep into the volatile sea with some of his friends.
Confirming the incident, Spokesperson, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South-west Zone, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, said the deceased and his friends had strayed from the usual area where fun-seekers converge.

He said rescue efforts was hampered by the waves, adding that his friends raised an alarm when it dawned on them that they could not rescue him
He said the incident has brought the total number of those drowned at the Bar Beach to five in 12 days, adding that while four people died on January 1, the eight others drowned consecutively.
He called on people along the coastlines to note that climate change effects are fully here, therefore increasing the need to be safety conscious as they embark on their various activities in the areas.
