The Lagos State Police Command said it has mounted a manhunt for some yet-to-be identified military men who allegedly connived with some armed robbery suspects to snatch a tanker loaded with over 33, 000 liters of Kerosene.

However, the police  could not disclose which of the three arms of the Armed Forces the suspected  military men hailed from.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, said the  Anti-Robbery team attached to Okokomaiko Police Division acting on a tip-off had pursued and arrested four suspected robbers.

She said upon interrogation, the four suspected alleged that they carried out the operation in connivance with some men in military uniform to snatch the products which was in a Mercedes Benz 1924 Tanker with Registration number SF 657 AWK loaded with 33,000 litres of kerosene.

Braide said the products was being discharged at AP Filling Station along Governors Road, Ikotun, when the armed men stormed the area and attempted to steal both the tanker and the products.

Although the tanker with its content was recovered, Braide said a manhunt for the supposed military men is in progress, adding that the case is under investigation at the State Criminal and Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.

In another development, the police patrol team attached to Abattoir Division, while on patrol along Railway Line Oko-Oba arrested one Ahmed Abdulazeez with one locally made double barrel pistol, one live and one expended cartridges, two mobile phones, four sim cards and some jewelries.

Also, policemen from the same division acting on a tip-off, had a gun duel with some armed robbers at Lagos State Abattoir/lairage area of Agege.

Braide said the robbers abandoned four locally made double barrel pistol, six live cartridges and escaped, adding that both cases are currently under investigation at SCID Yaba.
