EXCLUSIVE: ​SFU Arrests Couple for Alleged Child Trafficking

 The Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Milverton, Ikoyi, under the Commissioner of Police, Tunde Ogunsakin, recently arrested a couple, Mr. Adenuga and Mrs. Elizabeth Soyibo, for allegedly trying to traffic twins to the United States of America.

The couple were arrested on April 15, after the American Consulate reported that the couple had applied for an American visa and were denied because  the twins they claimed as their babies appeared to have been stolen.
According to the SFU Public Relations Officer,  Ngozi Isintume-Agu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, the consulate's suspicions were aroused and they ordered a DNA test to ascertain the biological ties.

She said the police were called in to investigate when the result of the DNA proved that the twins do not belong to the couple as both lack the genetics found in the kids.
During investigation, she noted that although detectives had to travel to Port-Harcourt where the woman claimed to have given birth to the babies in a private home, she however claimed she could not locate the place any longer.

She said, "She could not even account for any antenatal record anywhere as she did not attend any and she claimed the total sum of N1.8million was paid to the woman who administered local  herbs on her.
"The  husband on his own part stated that he was also given local herbs that boosted his sperm count that produced the babies.

"They both claimed they could not trace the woman whom they paid the sum of N1.8million for the local herbs and the delivery of the baby and they could not also produce anyone who knew about the conception and the subsequent delivery of the babies."
The PRO said the suspects would soon appear in court after the necessary investigations must have been concluded.
