Hon. Aminu Tambuwal
The House of Representatives, at the weekend, said it was unaware that that its speaker, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, was nursing an ambition to contest the presidential election in 2015.
It also denied speculations that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced investigations into allegations that Tambuwal had been involved in anti-party activities following his alleged romance with key figures in the opposition political parties.

In recent weeks, Tambuwal had been spotted at the gatherings of the leading opposition political party, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and had been fingered in the  brewing crisis between the presidency and some state governors elected on the platform of the ruling party.

In the emerging countdown to the 2015 general election, there had been speculations over who might contest the presidential election.

Although it all remains foggy, some bookmakers have hinted that Tambuwal might have his eyes firmly set on the presidency.
There have also been speculations that he had been holding meetings with the  key opposition politicians involved in moves to merge the opposition parties to give a formidable challenge to the ruling PDP at the next general election.
The speculations were given further impetus after  former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, lauded Tambuwal's political ascendancy and suggested that he (Tambuwal) was a good presidential material.
However, Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Afam Ogene (APGA/Anambra), who denied the knowledge of Tambuwal's ambition during a chat with journalists, said Tambuwal had so far not told his colleagues in the House about the said presidential ambition.
