EXCLUSIVE: Boko Haram-IG Lauds $7M Bounty on Sect's Leader

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on Tuesday lauded the pricey sum of $7million placed on the leader of the dreaded Boko Haram militia sect, Abubakar Shekau, by the United States Government.

The United States Government had in its continuous war against terrorism and terrorists placed a joint bounty of 23million dollars on five leaders of militant groups in West Africa.

The United States Government had placed the sum of $3million, $5million, $7million, $5million and $3million on the spokesman for Mali's Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO) Oumar Ould Hamaha; Al-Qaeda leader; Mokhtar Belmokhtar,    Shekau, top AQIM leader, Yahya Abou Al-Hammam and a senior fighter with AQIM; Malik Abou Abdelkarim, respectively.

While describing the move as a positive development towards quenching the activities of the sect, Abubakar  called on Nigerians to be security conscious as well as supply security agencies relevant information that would lead to a mop up of the sect.

Abubakar made this disclosure while commissioning the ultra modern and renovated Cottage Hospital/Comprehensive Health Centre at the Police College, Ikeja.
