NIGERIAN NAVY DONATES HOUSES TO WIDOWS OF DECEASED NAVAL PILOTS

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba has made good his promise to ensure that welfare of personnel and their families is taken seriously. This resolve was displayed recently as the CNS on behalf of the Nigerian Navy donated houses to the widows of Commander Murtala Mohammed Daba and Lieutenant Adeyemi Olukayode Sowole who died in the Helicopter crash of 15 December 2012 at Bayelsa State.
The fenced two-bedroom bungalow situated on a plot measuring approximately 800sq meters is one of the means via which the CNS wishes to compensate the widows who lost their bread winners.
Rear Admiral AI Oyagha, the Chief of Administration who represented the Chief of Naval Staff at the occasion said apart from the houses, there are other welfare packages available for the families which would be unveiled at the appropriate time. He further reiterated Admiral Ezeoba’s desire to ensure that the sacrifices of naval personnel are not in vain.
In their responses, Air Vice Marshal SI Awofodu (rtd) who received a house on behalf of Mrs Sowole and Mrs Ummul Daba, thanked the Chief of Naval Staff for his kind gesture and expressed optimism that the houses would go a long way to help them overcome the challenges ahead.
