Serena Williams
World number one Serena Williams won the French Open for the first time since 2002 with a 6-4 6-4 victory over defending champion Maria Sharapova. Williams, 31, recovered from an early break of serve to earn her 13th win in a row over the Russian, a run stretching back nine years.
