LAGOS POLICE PRO, NGOZI BRAIDE |
A three-man armed robbery gang, Saturday stormed and allegedly raided the home of a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shola Amore, at the Alakuko area of Lagos and carted away valuables.
Although Amore who was the immediate past Force Public Relations, has been moved as the Deupty Commissioner of Police Administration, Zone 6, Calabar, his family still reside in their family home in Alakuko, where the armed robbers visited.
This is just as the gang was also said to have earlier on robbed the Alakuko branch of a popular Pentecostal church located at Alakuko Bus Stop, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, carting away some musical instruments and other valuables.
Meanwhile, the robbers who had invaded the DCP's home were said to have allegedly trailed his wife from an outing, thus gaining easy entrance into their compound after which they fled on their motorcycles.
However, in their bid to escape, the gang were said to have fired indiscriminately into the air and one of the bullets struck a mother of two simply identified as Mummy Samuel in the stomach.
The victim who resides besides the officer's house at Ademola Abiola Street, has since been rushed to a private hospital for treatment.
However, conflicting stories from another eyewitness account disclosed that the the armed robbers did not invade the compound and steal valuables, rather they fled when the DCP's wife started shouting.
The source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the DCP's wife was driving home in her SUV jeep when the gang accosted her at the gate, but when she raised an alarm, they shot sporadically into the air as they fled.
Meanwhile, although the guard stationed at the church was said to have scaled the fence to alert the police, the robbers disappeared into the dead of the night.
Attempts to confirm the incident from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, proved abortive as she did not pick her call.
