The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) yesterday said it had reassessed the situation of Monday's blast at a NAF base in Maiduguri by a troop of insurgents who tried to infiltrate the base.
The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Alex Badeh, made this disclosure yesterday at the commissioning of the additional blocks of classroom and shops at the Vocational and ICT Centre built by the Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA), under the leadership of the National President, Mrs. Mary Badeh.
Some of the dignitaries at the event include the Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command, Air Vice Marshal Monday Morgan and his wife Dr Regina Morgan, who also doubles as the Chairperson NAFOWA, Logistics Command Chapter.
Others include the Commandant, Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Air Vice Marshal Moses Akinsanmi and his wife who doubles as the Chairperson NAFRCOWA, Mrs Juliet Akisanmi.
CAS said, "We have visited the area and seen and we have reassessed the situation. We have put appropriate measures on ground despite our losses.
"We are government and its resources are more than that of the bad men. So we have replaced what was damaged and we have resumed work."
Speaking on the efforts by NAFOWA and the graduation of 135 students of batch C he said, "They are doing a good job of getting people off the streets. These people could have chosen to be area boys and girls but here they are learning.
"If we can get them off the street, we won't have criminals and thieves. May your hands never grow weary as you continue to groom these youths."
In her speech, Mrs. Badeh said, "This occasion marks the high point of efforts embarked upon by NAFOWA in empowering our youths through purposeful training and skills acquisition.
"The vocational and ICT Centre over the years have trained youths in various skills thereby empowering them and making life more meaningful for them and their families."
