The Inspector General (IG) of Police, Mohammed Abubakar,
yesterday restated the stand of the Nigeria Police against extra judicial
killing, condemning it in its entirety, even as he tasked Zonal Inspector
Generals of Police and state Commissioners of Police to protect citizens’ right to live.
The IG in a statement signed by the Force Spokesperson,
Frank Mba, a Chief Superintendent of Police, made available to me, said
the force was deeply concerned about the increasing tendency by some citizens to
resort to extra judicial killings and jungle justice.
The IG warned that any person found to be involved in any
act of impunity or jungle justice must bear the full wrath of the law as two
wrongs cannot make a right.
