MILITARY ARREST KINPIN INVOLVED IN CHIBOK ABDUCTION


Finally, a ray of hope. The Nigerian military in a press statement signed by Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolad, said it has arrested Babuji Ya'ari,  a key accomplice in the Chibok girls abduction.

 Babuji was a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as civilian JTF, which he used as a cover to spy on the activities of the Nigerian security forces, acting as a spy & gathering information for terrorist group. The military also said Ya'ari has coordinated several deadly attacks in Maiduguri since 2011.

A week after he was declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command in connection with the abduction of seven-year-old Emeka Emmanuel and eight others, Mr. Ernest Nwankwo was yesterday apprehended by the police.

The suspect who is the pastor and General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry a.k.a House of Mercy, at Ogolonto, Ikorodu area of the state, was arrested at the Ebute Metta area.

Fake Glo Ambassador Gets Two-year Jail Term


Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Gombe has sentenced 29 year-old Khalil Ahmed Bappa to two years in prison for fraudulently extorting goods and money worth N267,000 from a female student of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.


Bappa, who claimed to be a Glo Ambassador, fraudulently extorted the goods and money from Yusra Ali Babakusa, a student of the ABU, with the assurances of making her a Glo Ambassador.

As Nigerian groups and individuals continue to mount pressure on government through social media platform to rescue the over 200 Secondary School Girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram sect in Chibok, the #BringBackOurGirls# hash tag had already generated over 2 million signatures.

Co-debator at a monthly public debate organised by Speakers’ Corner Trust Nigeria (SCTN), Ms. Viola Okolie, who said the link remains the most retweeted, noted that the social media platform was a veritable tool to galvanise change, adding that it gives the people opportunity to air their views on government policies.

Injured Teenager Recovers, Recuperates in Hospital


After several and intensive treatments, Nene Ekwute, the teenage house-help of Dr. Jude Mbama of St. Jude’s Hospital, who was injured in a domestic brawl, is currently recuperating in the hospital, THISDAY investigations can confirm.

Contrary to previous reports that the incident blinded her, the teen, who was said to have been injured on her left eye by the doctor’s 14-year-old son, was at the weekend, still on bed rest at the hospital located in FESTAC Town, Lagos.

Apapa Blast: Forensic Experts Yet to Rule out Bomb Explosion


Not certain of the actual cause of Wednesday’s twin explosions in Apapa, Lagos, police forensic experts, who are already investigating the blast are yet to rule out bomb explosion.

This is just as it was gathered that the anti-bomb operatives who stormed the scene of the blast in the early hours of yesterday to take the debris for forensic examination, had begun post-blast investigations to ascertain the cause of the explosion.

The forensic team had earlier encountered some hitches as security operatives attached to the Folawiyo Energy Limited (FEL), the tank farm, refused to allow men of the anti-bomb department access to the FEL premises.

FIFA World Cup Match: Nigeria Crashes, Loses 2-0 to France



Nigeria Monday lost to France in the  ongoing  FIFA World  Cup Football  match holding in Brazil.

The match   which was goaless during the  first half  with full of hope on the Nigerian side ended up with  two goals against Nigeria in the second half.  The two goals against Nigeria were scored  few minutes to the end of the  game in what  was a big disappointment to many Nigerian football fans.

The result was bad news to Nigeria as  the  country’s team would have to start  heading for home.

For France, the country  is expected to proceed to the next  level  in the ongoing world cup tournament.

Boko Haram Razes Police Station, Kills Council Boss's Son in Flesh Attack in Borno


Suspected members of the Boko Haram sect  Monday invaded Shani Local Government Area of Borno state setting ablaze the Divisional Police Station and many other building in the town. They were said to have razed down shops and vehicles using Improvised Explosive Devices and petrol bombs.
The caretaker  chairman of Shani council, Alhaji Modu Walama who was said to have escaped series of attacks by assassins and terrorists in recent past, narrowly  escaped being killed by the terrorists who were poaching for him.

They were said to have attacked the council boss family house in Walama and killed one of his sons  when they discovered that the Chairman was not in the house. It was gathered from sources that the heavily armed terrorists invaded the town on motorcycles   and bombed the Divisional Police Headquarters at about 2:45pm on Monday, after they realized that almost all the policemen on duty had fled the area.

Four Killed as Explosion Rocks Tank Farm in Lagos

No fewer than four persons were yesterday killed at Folawiyo Energy along Creek Road, Apapa, Lagos, after some suspected suicide bombers set off twin explosions at the area.

Policeman Beats Pregnant Woman to Stupor


A police officer identified as Arthur Okeke with force registration number 453255 yesterday allegedly beat up a pregnant woman at the Bar Beach area of Lagos State.

The incident which was captured on tape saw the police officer screaming on the victim before pouncing on her and beat her up despite her condition.

EXCLUSIVE: Police Rescue 6-year old from Church's Ritualist Den


Six-year-old Kelvin Emmanuel, was today rescued from a ritualist's den located inside a church at Majidun area of Ikorodu, Lagos, by policemen attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Area N Command, Ijede. 

Asides the human heads and body parts recovered from the church identified as Jesus Divine Healing and Deliverance Catholic Ministry located at number 319 Lagos Road, Majidun, the  police also rescued another victim who claimed he had been in capacity for days.

Explosion Rocks Abuja Again


A massive explosion just rocked Banex Plaza on Aminu Kano Crescent in Wuse 2 in Abuja. The explosion occurred at the gate of the very busy plaza and six people have been confirmed dead with at least 15 people injured.

Doctor's Son Allegedly Blinds Teenage House-help


The son of Dr. Jude Mbama of St. Jude's Hospital, located at 21 Road, B Close, House 3, FESTAC Town, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos, on Monday allegedly beat their teenage house-help simply identified as Nana to a stupor, blinding her in the process. 

Although the identify of the accused was yet to be identified, sources close to the family who spoke on strict condition of anonymity revealed that the incident was allegedly one of the many cases wherein they repeatedly abused and maltreated the teenager. (Continue to read as culled from Thisday)

Exclusive: How Herbalist Buried Mother and Child Alive

The suspected killer of a retired custom officer and her 10-year old child yesterday recounted how he tricked his victims into his shrine and buried them alive.

The 64 year old suspect identified as Alhaji Olatunji Azeez in his confessional statement alleged that he actually tricked the deceased into one of his shrine located behind his traditional temple at Ajuwon, Akute in Ogun State.
