EXCLUSIVE: Police Rescue 6-year old from Church's Ritualist Den


Six-year-old Kelvin Emmanuel, was today rescued from a ritualist's den located inside a church at Majidun area of Ikorodu, Lagos, by policemen attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Area N Command, Ijede. 

Asides the human heads and body parts recovered from the church identified as Jesus Divine Healing and Deliverance Catholic Ministry located at number 319 Lagos Road, Majidun, the  police also rescued another victim who claimed he had been in capacity for days.

The police further arrested the trio of Madu Kenneth, Boniface Nkeagu and Ifeanyi Eze and have already launched a manhunt for the pastor of the church, who is currently on the run.

The suspect identified as Rosemary Chukwu had allegedly abducted Emmanuel, smuggled him into a box and was carting him to the church when she was accosted by passersby who heard the cry of the boy.

When they forced the box open, they found the boy who turned out to be her neighbour at the Ogolonto area of Ikorodu.

The suspect was almost lynched to death but for the intervention of the police who rescued her. The angry mob who besieged the church also attempted to set it ablaze but were restrained by the police.

At the station, Chukwu confessed that she kidnapped the baby and wanted to sell him baby for N4million to the pastor who had demanded for it. 

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), said the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko has ordered an indepth  investigation into the matter.

She said, "The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ipakodo Police Station received a distress call that a mob wanted to lynch a woman who kidnapped a baby and put him in a traveling bag. 

"He rushed to the scene and rescued the woman who  confessed to have been sent by a pastor in Ogolonto area and she took operatives to the church.

"At the church, policemen arrested three persons, Madu Kenneth, Boniface Nkeagu and Ifeanyi Eze but  the prime suspect, the pastor of the church, is at large and operatives are making efforts to arrest him."

Braide said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigations.
