EXCLUSIVE: Prepare Your Will, Nigerian Navy warns Officers

Officers and men of Naval Training Command have been warned  to make a valid will in case of any eventuality. This advice came just as the command concluded a one day seminar on the "Administration of Estate of Deseased personnel" held yesterday in Lagos to sensitize NN personnel on the administration of estate of a deceased personnel and also provide useful and practical guide on how to make a valid Will. 

The seminar which was in line with the Nigerian Navy 2014 schedule of event, had the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Training Command Rear Admiral Goddy Anyankpele, reinterate the need for personnel to write their wills to prevent unwanted persons from gaining access to ones property in case the person dies.

In the wake of several indicting reports often trailing the military after each internal security operations, the Nigerian Navy (NN), yesterday subjected both officers and ratings of the force to training on protection of civilians in peace support operation and internal security.

A first of its kind training, the seminar which was held at the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) headquarters in Apapa, Lagos, was geared towards addressing issues of civilian protection instead of harassment and sometimes rape and death as was witnessed during the Odi massacre.

"Following approval by the President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) THUNDER, Nigerian Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel Class of Ship is presently on her way to Australia to participate in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) International Fleet Review (IFR) to be held in Sydney from 3-11 October 2013. The International Fleet Review is a historic commemorative maritime event for the Royal Australian Navy and Australia which will include a multi-national sea exercise and other notable events intended to showcase the cordial relationship that exist between global maritime forces.

Niger Delta: JTF Arrests Bayelsa Traditional Ruler for Crude Oil Theft

One of the foremost traditional rulers in Bayelsa State (name withheld) is in the custody of the Joint (Military) Task Force (JTF) on the Niger Delta, Operation Pulo Shield, for allegedly sponsoring crude oil theft.

The high-ranking traditional ruler was arrested along with three other persons for their alleged involvement in crude oil theft in the waterways of the Niger Delta.
