DELE MOMODU: Democracy In Search of Democrats

Fellow Nigerians, there is no place where democracy is desperately seeking and pleading for attention than our dear country. I will explain and demonstrate what I mean in a jiffy. Nigerians love the good things of life but oftentimes hate the process needed to attain them. We are a nation of miracle-seekers; the reason religion is very attractive here without commensurate piety and Godliness. A man who has just stolen his latest billions is not ashamed to run to his church and Pastor to offer a tithe on his loot. You recognise the important folks in your church as they scramble to take direct positions in front of the pew. Nowhere is ever too sacred for these guys. Their security goons with fully loaded guns often block the front, back and side views of the hapless congregation. This show of pump and power has become a veritable part of the Nigerian man’s appurtenances of office.

SIMON KOLAWOLE: Immunity is Obviously Not the Problem

Was I surprised? No, I wasn’t. I always suspected that Major Hamza al-Mustapha would one day walk free over the assassination of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola. Lawyers would talk about proving a case beyond reasonable doubt; activists would say it is better to free a thousand guilty men than hang an innocent man; and al-Mustapha’s friends would talk about how unfair and inhuman it was to have put the former henchman of General Sani Abacha on trial for 14 years. I have even heard people claim that al-Mustapha, assuming if he did order the killing of Kudirat, was only acting as a state agent and should never be made to bear individual responsibility for it.

SIMON KOLAWOLE ON UNDER-AGE Marriage : 'ADULTS ONLY'

Who is an adult in Nigeria? Section 29 (4)(b) of the 1999 Constitution says that for the purpose of renouncing Nigerian citizenship (not for marriage, as being circulated on the social media), any married woman is considered to be of “full age”. Senator Ahmed Sani Yarima wants the provision retained (he once married a minor). But, as noted in an instructive online article by Egghead Odewale, adulthood is yet to be properly defined in Nigeria. To get a driving licence or register to vote, you have to be 18. The Child’s Rights Act says 18 is adulthood. The Matrimonial Causes Act says 21 is age of maturity. The Immigration Act says 16 is a minor. Something is definitely wrong. I vote for 18.

Finally, 'Pedophilic' Senator Ahmed Yerima Senselessly Defends Demonic Deeds

THE GREAT PEDOPHILE, AHMED YERIMA
Is this man sick or what? Please read what Sinator Yerima ahmed said? He needs to be locked up and the keys thrown away. Filth of the earth!!!! See his demonic response...........
He foolishly said, ''Nigeria has many uncountable problems and none of them is early marriage.  As a matter of fact, early marriage the solution to about half of our problems.
For those who wonder if I can give my daughter(s) out in marriage at the age of 9 or 13, I tell you most honestly, I can give her out at the age of 6 if I want to and its not your business.
This is because I am a Muslim and I follow the example of the best of mankind, Muhammad.
In Islam, marriage is not only about sex, it is about family and helping one another in achieving their goals, which is the attainment of Paradise. In Islam, a girl can be given out in marriage as early as 6 years old, but consummation of the marriage can only be done when the girl becomes physically mature and she gives her consent to it because unlike English law, it is not permissible for a man To Molest his wife in Shari'ah Law.

Femi Fani-Kayode Blasts Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima & Co

''If I had any doubts that the self-confessed pedophile Senator Ahmed Sani was of the devil before today, I have long since shed those doubts.  Ahmed is not only evil but he is also a very sick man. In any civilized society, he would be either be behind bars or he would be in a mental hospital.
We as a people need to protect the girl-child from self-righteous sexual predators like him. He not only thrives on under-age sex and child rape but he boasts about it and seeks to justify it with his Islamic faith. He forgets that in 95 per cent of Muslim countries in the world today child-marriage, child-sex, child-porn and pedophilia are specifically banned and outlawed by law.
