that he was sidelined by the Minister throughout the recruitment exercise and
that he got wind of the exercise through a
newspaper advertorial. He made this disclosure yesterday when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Interior
Matters Panel instituted by the senate to investigate circumstances that led to
the ill-fated exercise.

After weeks of dillydallying and blame trading, the Minister of Interior, Abba
Moro yesterday accepted blame for the poorly conducted immigration recruitment
exercise that led to the death of 16 youths on March 15th. Mr Moro appeared
before the Senate Committee on Interior Matters Panel instituted by the senate
to investigate circumstances that led to the ill-fated exercise. While
expressing his sympathy to those that died, Moro said as with most
administrative exercises, the end result cannot be determined...
"Mr chairman and
distinguished senators, we are deeply grieved and saddened by the way events
turned out. We express our sincere regrets once again. However, permit me to
state that our patriotic desire was the pursuit of a more honest, a more

Police Clarifies Debate on Tinted Glass Ban
To clarify the raging debate about the ban on tinted glasses by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubabkar, the police expatiated on some salient issues. According to the Force PRO, CSP Frank Mba, "the Police High Command has observed with concern
the unnecessary controversies that have trailed the recent IGP’s announcement
on the ban on the indiscriminate use of tinted glasses on vehicles plying
Nigerian roads.
The Force has observed opinion that one of the issues that
have generated so much contention and sometimes endless arguments between
Police Officers enforcing the ban on the one hand, and motorists on the other
hand, is the contention by some vehicle owners that there is no valid law
restricting the use of tinted vehicle glasses in Nigeria. Others who claim to
be aware of the legal restriction argue that because the tints on their glasses
are ‘factory-fitted’, they are under no legal obligation to obtain a permit.
Yet, others hinge their arguments and objections on the fact that their car
tints are not as dark as others and thus, should be excused from the
requirements of obtaining Permits.

Recently a Lagos High Court in Ikeja sentenced to death
Akolade Arowolo for the murder of his banker wife, Titilayo, who he repeatedly
stabbed to death at their Lagos residence. The question everyone would
naturally want to ask, is why?
This incident is not an isolated case because there are so
many “Titilayos” who had been maimed or murdered in the past by their violent
and aggressive spouses.
Could a man be so frustrated to the point of killing his
wife and cutting her into pieces? Is he a confirmed drunk and wife beater? Why
don’t ladies see all these signals before walking down the aisle? Was it his
first time to beat her, why did she stay there? the questions are endless.
Battery, domestic abuse, spousal abuse, family violence,
dating abuse, and intimate partner violence, are some of the terms associated
with a pattern of behavior which involves the abuse by one partner against
another in an intimate relationship such as marriage, cohabitation, and dating
which involves physical aggression with the sole aim of inflicting pain.
Wife battery is not just a crime, it is immoral, unethical
and a clear breach of the fundamental right and the dignity of the abused.
Nuella Njubigbo Finally Admits Affair with Tchidi Chikere on the Eve of Traditional Marriage
traditional marriage rites between
Tchidi Chikere and I will be performed soon.
This was not the way we imagined or planned
it, but as they say, nobody has a crystal ball to tell where or who we end up
with. Life is a dice.
At the time the rumours of his
separation/divorce and me being involved was going on, I definitely was not in
that space where some story writers said I was. I was busy doing other things
with my life, other preoccupations, a relationship (I thought would lead to
marriage), and my acting career. Things happened, my relationship packed up and
we went our separate ways, I moved on.
