An unknown armed robbery gang, Sunday, robbed the residents of Apapa area of Lagos State and shot two soldiers who had gone to investigate the sound of the gun shots.
The two soldiers whose identities are yet to be identified were said to have been on a rescue mission when they were cut by the hail of bullets released by the robbers.
Although the circumstances surrounding the incident was sketchy as at press time, it was gathered that the incident had happened at Command Guest House in Apapa.
However, when contacted, the new Public Relations Officer, 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Kingsley Umoh said only one soldier was shot dead.
He said, "Details are still sketchy but one of our soldiers was killed by suspected armed robbers. No arrests have been made but investigations are ongoing."
