EXCLUSIVE: Kidnappers Release Senator Annie Okonkwo's Sister-in-Law

By Chiemelie Ezeobi

Hours after she was allegedly abducted by kidnappers, the sister in-law to former Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Annie Okonkwo, was released. Although details were sketchy as at press time, it was gathered that she was abducted on her way home from her sister's house in Ikoyi.

According to reports, the victim had allegedly attended a birthday party in her sister's home in Ikoyi last Sunday and later left for her house in FESTAC Town in the company of her three children.
The family became worried when report reached them that she did not show up at home that night, prompting them to report the incident at the nearest police station.

To further heighten their panic was that fact that the vehicle she rode in was found parked along the road probably few meters from where she was abducted.

However, by Monday, it was gathered that the victim was released after a ransom of N1million was paid to the kidnappers. No arrests have been made yet by the police.

Although the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the kidnap and the subsequent release, she could not immediately confirm if ransom was paid.

A call put across to the senator's special adviser, Mr. Collins was not picked neither was the text message sent to his phone replied as at press time.
