EXCLUSIVE: 42 Boko Haram suspects arrested in Lagos and Ogun

THE SUSPECTS WHO WERE PARADED TODAY
No fewer than 42 suspected members of Boko Haram have been arrested from various criminal hideouts in Lagos and Ogun States.  Some of the suspects were alleged to be among those responsible for the killing of soldiers and civilians in Maiduguri.

They were alleged to have migrated to from Borno to the south-western part of the country following the recent clamp down on their activities by the Nigerian Armed Forces.


Parading the suspects before newsmen in Lagos, yesterday, the General Officer Commanding, 81Division, Major General Obi Umahi stated that the suspects were arrested based on an intelligence report.

Based on the intelligence report, army officers from 81 division carried out a coordinated raid in some major criminal hideouts in Lagos and Ogun States respectively.

Major General Umahi stated that areas raided include Ibafo in Ogun state, Mafoluku, Alaba Argo, and Ijora Badia areas of the metropolis.

"In response to intelligence report on the influx of Boko Haram terrorist elements into Lagos and Ogun States, The command organized and conducted raids, in conjunction with intelligence operatives in various parts of these.
"The raid operations were conducted from 12 to 23 July in various hideout in Lagos and Ogun states which are fast becoming Boko Haram terrorist enclaves.
"The raids were conducted in Ibafo trailer parks and Ileke new trailer garage in Ogun state, and in aviation quarters, Mafoluku Oshodi, Ketu/mile 2 motor n parks, Orile trailer park, Lekki new extension and bar beach"
