Kidnappers Abduct Hyundai Staff, Demand N25m Ransom

LAGOS PRO, NGOZI BRAIDE
A yet-to-be identified kidnap gang on Tuesday abducted a member of staff of Hyundai Motors Nigeria Limited, Mrs. Chinyere Nwajei, in the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State, on her way back from work. It was however, gathered that the unknown gang had since made contact with the victim’s family, demanding the sum of 150,000 dollars (N24,750,000).
The demand bears similarities with the ransom that was demanded from the family of the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairman, Kehinde Bamigbetan, who was kidnapped two months ago but was later released after part of the ransom was paid.

The victim, who works at the company’s Ajose Adeogun, Victoria Island branch, was said to have been kidnapped at night at the Festac link bridge. It was also gathered that the victim who was alone in her car, was not only abducted but that the gang also made away with her car, a 2012 Hyundai Accent, which is yet to be found.
However, conflicting reports as at press time said the vehicle had since been found few metres away from where she was abducted.
Sources close to the victim said they raised the alarm when initial efforts to contact her proved abortive but they were further alarmed when a guttural male voice picked the phone and confirmed that they had her in their custody.
The unknown person also claimed that they had taken her to their shrine in an unknown destination pending when the full ransom was paid to them.
I however, gathered that the concerned family and friends of mother of two had since begun negotiation while concerted efforts were being made to raise the necessary amount needed as ransom.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said she was not in the know but promised to find out.
