Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, escaped death by whiskers on Tuesday night in Ado- Ekiti, as some people suspected to be hired political thugs, who had been on his trail shot his car.
According to a statement by the Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO) and signed by the campaign’s Director-General, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, said Fayose, who was coming from Ado-Ekiti and heading towards  Afao- Ekiti, his country home at about 9 p.m., was trailed by a white colour Hilux car with green number plate to Fayose Housing Estate at Afao-Ekiti road.

But, at the present time, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Victor Babayemi, said the former governor was yet to make an official report at the command.
The statement added that it was Fayose’s driver, who first noticed that a vehicle was trailing them that immediately alerted the former governor, who was in the car with him.
Following the alert, the driver immediately increased the car’s speed and when the assailants, who were already hanging out on the Hilux vehicle saw that they could not catch up with the speed of Fayose’s car, they then shot four times at the car.
It was gathered that on discovering that Fayose had arrived Afao-Ekiti, the Hilux car turned back, and sped off.
According to the statement, earlier in the day, Fayose had received a call from an anonymous person, who told Fayose that he (Fayese) should expect a tough time ahead of the 2014 elections but the former governor took the message for granted.
