The Police Service Commission on Wednesday announced the
promotion of one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG); Adeola
Adeleke and 1,402 other
senior officers.
This is disclosed in a statement issued by Mr Ferdinand
Ekpe, the commission’s Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations, in
Abuja. It said that others included six Deputy Commissioners of
Police (DCs) who were promoted to Commissioners (CPs) of Police.
They are, Abdul Bube, Abubakar Marafa, Dan Bature, Karma
Hassan, Augustine Evbakhabokun and Esosa Amadasun. The statement also listed seven Assistant Commissioners of
Police (ACPs) who were elevated to DCs.
They are Felix Gani, Ibrahim Umar, Joseph Mukan, Wakili
Mohammed, Awunah Donald, Mohammed Jimoh and Yahi Kwajima. Others are seven Chief Superintendents of Police(CSPs)
promoted to ACPs and 242 Superintendents of Police(CSPs) promoted to Chief
Superintendents of Police(CSPs).
Also, 424 Deputy Superintendents of Police(DSPs) were
promoted to SPs and 715 Assistants Superintendent of Police(ASPs) elevated to
DSPs.
According to the statement, all the promotions are with
effect from Feb 19. The Chairman of the commission, Mr Mike Okiro, congratulated
the officers and charged them to brace up for the challenges of policing the
nation
