EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian Navy Flays Attitude of Recalcitrant Ratings

R: Ibas, FOC WEST
The Nigerian Navy (NN) authorities have flayed the recent increasing trend whereby ratings exhibit recalcitrance in their line of duty by abandoning their duty posts for frivolities.

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command (WNC), Rear Admiral Ibok Ette Ibas, made this disclosure today  during the end of his second bi-annual inspection of all units and divisions under his command.

He added, "Nevertheless, I would like to express a few concerns which includes the growing trend of ratings abandoning their duty posts or turning in their re-engagement requests late.

"The navy is not going to wait on people with divided loyalty. Thus, ratings who abandon their duty pots or submit re-engagement requests late would be struck off strength so they can go and pursue their ambitions elsewhere."

Ibas also called on officers and men of the command not to show partisanship in the discharge of their duties especially in defending the territorial integrity of the nation, adding that the navy does not entertain the luxury of partisan debates.
